It’s finally happening. The packers are here today. They will pack everything up today and load/ship everything by Wednesday of this week. This afternoon we are moving our home base to a hotel for the week.
The past couple weeks have been a whirlwind. We have been busy dismantling the house that we worked so hard to make a home over the past year. There have been frequent trips to Sam’s Club. Our basement right now looks like we could open our own Wal-Mart. We have basically tried to anticipate everything we would need for the next few years (and cant buy in Japan) and are buying it here.
Luckily Gaye has been here with us. There is NO WAY we would have been able to do this without her.
Sean has been having a tough week or so. His sleeping habits have gotten pretty bad – not sleeping longer than an hour at a stretch (sometimes 20 minutes). It has been hard on both Sean and Tracy. We suspect maybe some reflux because he has also been spitting up a lot. The doctor gave us some medication Saturday for it and it seems to be working. He had a much better night last night. They both need it.
We also had some other follow up appointments for Sean last week. We wanted to make sure we had his dilated ureter looked at again before we go. We had a pretty difficult test done with Sean on Friday. They had to catheterize him, inject some die, watch it with an x-ray, and make sure that his bladder was not backing up to the kidneys. The test itself was awful for both Tracy and Sean. The good news is that the test showed no signs of a problem, and five minutes afterwards Sean was smiling at the nurses. Gaye and Tracy are taking Sean up to a specialist in Rochester tomorrow for a follow up appointment. Again, nothing to be alarmed about, they are just being extra cautious knowing that we are heading to Japan.
Some friends of ours had a going away party for us on Saturday. We had a great time and will really miss our friends here. We never thought we would be sad about leavening the area, but we are. The good news is that if/when we come back.
