Doctor's appointment for Sean today. He was a trooper. He is now nicknamed "our little yellow baby." He is jaundiced. We had to head to the hospital for labs and are awaiting the results. I cried when they took the blood. In fact I cry a lot more these days. Guess that happens. I am hoping the jaundice resolves itself and we don't need further intervention. We will keep you all updated. I was assured by three old ladies* working in the hospital that it will pass.
As I was in the doctor's office, realizing just how yellow he is, the Coldplay song "Yellow" ran through my head and is playing on a loop now in my mind. I just downloaded it from itunes and will be dancing with Sean later. Here are the lyrics:
Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah they were all yellow,
I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called yellow
So then I took my turn
Oh all the things I've done
And it was all yellow
Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know you know I love you so
You know I love you so
I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh all the things you do
Cause you were all yellow
I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow
Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know for you i bleed myself dry
For you i bleed myself dry
Its true look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine
look at the stars look how they shine for you
*Ok, the little old ladies were a hoot. They were all volunteers at the hospital. They were oh so curious about little Sean. They assured me that the jaundice will go away-especially because I am breastfeeding. They railed against hospitals today releasing new moms too soon and assured me that me not being allowed to stay a full seven days is the culprit here. If they had kept me longer, then the jaundice would have been caught and dealt with earlier. One of the ladies was appalled at the length of time I was having to wait for the lab to draw Sean's blood. She marched in the lab and said something that made the lab secretary come out and apologize for the delay. For the record, I had no complaints about the length of the wait. What a hoot they were...one went on to tell mom and I about her bladder infection.
Daddy is at work today and we miss him desperately.

stop using the word hoot, it makes you sound old. . .
Is it selfish that another reason I am glad Sean is here is so I can hear all about what you think of being a mom? I knew it would inspire some cool posts. My daughter is wiping her bugars on the couch so I suppose I should go.
Congratulations you guys. What a beautiful little boy - so precious.
Oh how I remember those first few days (including our own orangy-version of yellow). Don't worry too much about the jaundice, nothing some good 'ole momma-love can't fix, and by momma-love I mean the round.the.clock.nursing sessions newborns love so much. :)
God bless your family
