One Month

Sean was officially one month old yesterday – wow how time flies. We celebrated by taking him to the Dr for a checkup. The little guy is still somewhat yellow so our primary Doctor sent us for a second opinion. We did that and both Doctors agree that this is normal and nothing to worry about. They called it “breast milk jaundice” and said it could possibly take another one or two weeks to clear up. There is a substance in mother’s milk that inhibits uridine diphosphoglucuronic acid (UDPGA) glucuronyl transferase. Impressed?

Sean has been changing daily. Just in the past few days he has developed an ability to track voices and objects. He also seems to study your face a lot more when you hold him. When he is on his play mat he will actually reach out and hit one of the toys dangling in front of his face. His sleeping habits are also changing a little – for the better. Hopefully there is rest in Tracy’s future. He is also getting his daily “tummy time” and is trying like hell to raise his head up. It’s amazing to see all the progress.

We are having some friends over tonight for dinner. This is an attempt to get life back to normal. We will see how it goes. Hopefully nobody gets pooped on.
